Styling Text Hyperlinks

Hi gentlemen, just a quick one, can you only style hyperlinks in PRO version? I know you can set colour and basic underline and strikethrough in Express? Just want to check that it is not me missing something…

Thanks
Chris

Yes, you can. There’s the Inspector palette or the Text Link Style Action.

For the Inspector palette method, make sure you are clicked on the page in the left column to see the styles in the Inspector.

With the Action, make sure some text has been linked to something (should do that in first example, too) then click on text box and change styles in the Action window.

hi Robert, well, I only put this quetion up because I ws watching dan cluskers styled text hyperlinks. I followed along till the part where he went to the inspector palette. I had links created and pointing to the other page, I had exactly the same dialogue box up that he did, but unfortunately there were no extra options like his, I could not style the hyperlinks. So I wondered if it was because of express. I have seen the actions palette via thedrop down menu and you have limited styles, colour and underline! Also in the inspector palette version, you have three more: bold, strikethrough and italics. But that is it. The video had another button underneath called: more… That was missing from express.

You asked about the PRO version and obviously through watching the video you saw how to do so.

Not sure about Express, but I’d assume there would be a way.

Dan Cluskers?

Oh, oh, Sorry Dan, If someone wrote about me “chris quatts”. Mmm actually I had just woken up when I wrote that. Is that a fair excuse?

I seem to be making a pigs twisted tail of everything, yes I meant the express, but asked it wrongly.

Anyway thankyou Robert, and thankyou Dan.

Happy Christmas.

You can apply a hyperlink style in the Express version too.

Here’s how:

  • Click in your box of html text
  • Open the Actions window
  • Click the plus sign in the lower left hand corner of the Actions window
  • Choose Text Link Style
  • In the Text Link Style window choose a hyperlink color.

In that same window you can remove the underline from hyperlinks too, if you’d like.

I tried changing the hyperlink colors of my master page using the page appearance window, but couldn’t get it to work.

@Phyllis - I’ve tried to remove the underline from hyperlinks, but it just wont work… it all looks fine in Freeway but the underline comes back when I preview the page in Safari.

Is there any way to update the actions in Freeway?

What version of FW are you using Daniel and is it Pro or Express?

The Pro interface for removing underlines on Links is a bit quirky in that it is not easy to see what state the U button is actually set to.

One click switches it off.

There is an Action that makes the operation clearer ‘Text Link Style’ the interface for this has a Tickbox for underlining which makes things easier.

DeltaDave, I use FWE. 5.6.1

Also did a little research on my own and found out that I have to remove the underline in two different places to make it take effect.
First I did it in the actions window. Then in the inspector palette and voilá! The underline now is gone!
