Hi folks,
I use mailstreet for my email, an exchange service. Since moving my hosting from GoDaddy to ineedwebhosting, my email has been disabled. The mailstreet people tell me I need to update my MX servers on ineedwebhosting,
I will agree with whom ever does forward & reverse DNS needs to give you a mx record (or two).
Using your Terminal.app type:
dig my-domain.com mx
Hit enter and you will get something like this.
; <<>> DiG 9.6.0-APPLE-P2 <<>> my-domain.com mx
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 24959

;; QUESTION SECTION:
;; my-domain.com. IN MX
;; ANSWER SECTION:
my-domain.com. 59501 IN MX 10 mail.my-domain.com.
Then in the Terminal.app window type nslookup mail.my-domain.com
Hit Enter and you will get something like:
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: mail.my-domain.com
Address: 205.118.199.1
Now looking at the IP address does it come close to being your mail server’s IP? If not then DNS & or rDNS needs work. Start by emailing and calling ineedwebhosting.
Good luck
but that doesn’t seem to be an option in their control panel. Does anyone have any insights as to how I can change this. Domain is still managed at godaddy, I just switched the hosting.
thanks,
Andrew.
