Personally I don’t think providing a template as both HTML and a Freeway file is
any problem at all. It benefits both communities and as long as the template
designer is happy to support coders who want to tinker with the design then
everyone should be happy.
I can imagine a situation as well where a Dreamweaver user (for example) sees a
template they like the look of, buys it and rather than try to adjust the
HTML/CSS/JavaScript to suit their needs they simply download the 30 day trial
of Freeway and adjust the site there. A sort of switch campaign
(Switch (ad campaign) - Wikipedia) for web designers.
Regards,
Tim.
I think that the whole ‘Theme Forest’ is a good idea, but I’d still much prefer to see a website solely for Freeway, don’t know why, I guess for the sense of community, and the sense of pride - don’t really like the idea of making Freeway stuff lurk in the depths of another site, doesn’t really sound like it would gain that much publicity for Softpress…That’s why, soon (probably start work on it in June-July) I’m going to have a bash at setting up an site specifically for Freeway Templates…with the allowance for user submitted content. It will be called ‘FREEWAY FOREST’ (don’t steal the name please!!)…no doubt I’ll be calling for support every two seconds with various issues but I’m just doing it for fun, not necessarily money (though that’s always a plus!)…
