Templates?

Besides the scant few templates found in the app, the ones on the Softpress site under “products” and in the Templates section of the KnowledgeBase…where are all the templates???

I’ve searched all over, where in comparison, Rapidweaver templates (for free and for sale) are coming out of every corner on the web! Granted, it’s much much easier to custom design in Freeway to the point most people don’t need templates - but still…none shared among users anywhere online at all? with all those sites in the gallery it’s hard to believe no one is sharing. I did find a defunct forum freewayforum.com. they didn’t have any such resources either.

Maybe I just haven’t found them yet, but assuming that such a resource does not exist, it might be nice - I would be more than willing to contribute - it could even be set up as donation-ware so that the developers of templates might actually benefit a bit should the users find the template(s) valuable.

Just a thought. I’ve tried Rapidweaver, Sandvox Dreamweaver and nearly a dozen other design alternatives and have concluded that Freeway is by far the most friendly and flexible app - now a little after market support would be nice to see!

/rant LOL

Hello!

Not to put you off or anything BUT you won’t find many templates for
FW - if at all. There has never really been an uptake on this while
I’ve been using the app since version 1… Like you said, it’s super-
easy to create your own look and feel in FW…

Best Regards,
James Wilkinson

A template built in Freeway is a very different one to those used by Rapidweaver, Sandvox etc. These templates are highly dynamic - they react seemlesssly to the user’s input and seem pretty flexible. For example, navigation changes to reflect the site’s content. Freeway is more traditional in its approach. If you want to add a page and have it included in the navigation, you have to do that step yourself.

I think that RapidWeaver et al have shifted the expectations of templates from something static and dumb (which is currently what’s on offer from Freeway) to the notion that a site will build itself if one just adds content.

Freeway is mostly used to build sites from scratch - something which should be encouraged.
