Hi; Just got a new Imac and want a draw program that offers a less than Illustrator and more than simple draw app’s…
Intaglio seems to have been recommended by more than a few.
Question
1- can text be constrained within and object and follow an existing curved path.
2-can nodes or points be added to a curved line in order to reshape that line.
Not sure about the terms but hope you can make sense of the description.
I’m not sure about constraining text within an object, but you can definitely have text follow an existing curved path. Just create your path and your text, select them both and choose Text->Path Binding->Bind Text To Path.
Adding and Removing nodes from a path (line) works very much like you would expect. Use the “Point Selection Tool” (the white arrow) and you can select individual points, move their handles to reshape the curve, and move the point itself to change the curve.
As for adding nodes to a path, the only way I know to do this is to draw a second curve using the Freehand tool, select both paths (lines) and use the Object->Paths->Join feature.
Intaglio is missing one significant feature, in my opinion: brush strokes. This is the ability to use shapes, patterns, procedurals, etc. as a brush to get more artistic strokes (paths/lines/whatever) in a vector format.
If you need brush strokes, I would recommend taking a look at Lineform (a competing product by Freeverse. If you don’t need artistic strokes, Intaglio is an excellent choice! I bought a copy about a month ago and don’t regret it… except for the artistic strokes.
As for adding nodes to a path, the only way I know to do this is to
draw a second curve using the Freehand tool, select both paths
(lines) and use the Object->Paths->Join feature.
Hello
it’s quite hidden ! with the scissors tool and the alt key simply
click on the path (you can see a + beside the pointer)
