"There isn't enough memory" error message

Hi,
When trying to import a very small AI file (16 kB) I got a message saying “Can’t complete this command. There isn’t enough memory”.

I searched this forum and found another example of this error happening in this thread but no solution nor other occurence.

This message has happened once in a while for a long time. Usually
after some keyboard fumbling. Don’t know why but has nothing to do
with available memory as some avoidance maneuver is necessary but
sufficient: closing and reopening the file or quitting and restarting
Intaglio.

Importing, though, may be different and some incompatibility/
corruption is probably involved.

Typically this error doesn’t really mean you’re out of memory. It’s generally displayed when the application tries to get some resource and that fails. Once upon a time in the earlier days of computing, this generally meant you don’t have enough free memory to complete the command (which is where the error message comes from) but these days it’s most likely due to some other unknown problem.
