This site is coded in XHTML Strict, which does not allow the target
attribute to be set. I could sneak it back in with JavaScript and
still have a valid site, but the thinking behind the Strict doctype
is this: opening a new browser window or instance is something that
the visitor should choose to do deliberately, not something that the
web site should decide for the visitor.

So if you want to open a new window or tab when you click on a link,
hold down the Command (Apple) key when you click. That works in all
the major Mac browsers. Depending on your browser and preferences,
this will either open a new tab or a new browser window. In Firefox,
you can further refine the preference to whether you want to switch
to that newly opened window or stay in the current page and look at
it later.
