I wonder if there is a way to have a slideshow action like the Slideshow Gallery from the Mootools package that works with HTML objects instead of images ?
I got asked about this, because it is assumed that a slideshow out of HTML objects should be more search engine friendly than an image-only one. Especially since there seems to be no way in Mootools to use ALT text.
There aren’t any actions per say, but there are at least a couple of versions of Lightbox javascript that handle many different formats. This particular one http://www.phatfusion.net/multibox/ uses the mootools library.
You could make a Carousel with the Protaculous Action and set the
time delay to whatever you like. The way this works is that it
changes automatically at whatever time interval you like, but the
moment you use one of the manual navigation options, it stops
switching. So you could make a little thumbnail image for each option
and apply the Carousel Tab to it, and set the AutoGlide setting to
some number of seconds. When the page loads, it will start flipping
between options, and if you click on one of the thumbnails, it will
navigate to that option directly.

A lightbox solution isn’t useful for my app, although the one at phatfusion.net/multibox/ looks interesting
@waltd: I originally thought to try Carousel, but FW claims that it won’t work with Mootools (and I’m using some Mootools gadgets for which I haven’t found replacements).
My Carousel action is version 0.8.2b and Mootools is version 1.1p3.
Maybe Weaver thinks about to update his Mootools implementation at some day to support HTML as well
That is correct. They will fight like cats in a bag.

Maybe at some day they like each other as cats and dogs ?
This is the reason I pointed out the mootols lightbox page. Whatever
Weaver decides to do would be similar.
Yes, but he has already implemented a feature called “Timed slideshow”, that works great, it just should be able to handle HTML as well (currently you can only select images).
So finally I guess I’m looking for something that combines the timed slideshow together with the tabs action…
As has been noted already, the current incarnation of the Mootools Suite does not allow for html content in slideshows.
As all of Actions are being rewritten, I am looking to extend functionality/compatibility into these directions.
I guess what I am saying is that the ‘plans’ include what is mentioned above, but the time will be a while as I am still re-writing the CORE of the Suite. Once that is done, I will be in a better position to evaluate which support libraries I want to include (which is ultimately what determines the features added).
@Weaver: Looking forward your new tools Do you have an estimated release date or is it too early to ask ?
May I add another thing to my wishlist ? For “Effect On Load” it would be nice to also specify a “fade out” - so an element fades out after a given time it has been displayed.

Too early to give any type of estimate. If all I wanted was a reformatting of the Actions, it could likely be completed within a week. But I would like to do so much more, which can only be accomplished through harsh rewriting of the code. ((My absolute priority is to make sure the ‘parameters’ that you, the user, have set will remain across the transition))

And, admittedly, some of the features were not as full-fledged as they should have been at their ‘launch’.
To All: I will be making alpha/beta versions available to those interested once something substantial is completed. So, if anyone would like to join this group in anticipation, please drop me note: email@hidden

Please put me on your list. You should have my Star Enterprise or SunnyScript (dot) com e-mail address already on file. Otherwise let me know shortly. (Whenever I tried to reach you by e-mail, I haven’t received a response in the past).
Address added, and my apologies for not responding to emails. I do have an address that acts as a dump box for password resets and various account management activities, that I then do not really use for everyday purposes. It is possible that your messages were routed there incorrectly.
The ‘email@hidden’ account does get redirected right to me.
(I am also noticing a delay in this response, that was caused by family health situations drawing my attention away from work)
