I’m getting the same error message (Cannot complete upload because an operation timed out.) I am able to create an FTP session with the server using Transmit, so the problem seems to be with FW. Anybody?
In the FTP dialog, if it is currently set to Automatic, change it
to Passive. Try again.
If that fails, change it to Active and try again.
Triple-check the password and the address of the server. There may be
a single character out of place, or you may be trying with the wrong
protocol (SFTP versus FTP) and your server may just be hanging there
waiting for a connection that it never gets because of an error or a
firewall setting.

Could have been a firewall setting. I was trying to connect through wi-fi at my wife’s office (I was able to access the web, email, etc. through that wi-fi). When I tried again through the wi-fi at my office (different location, ISP, etc.), everything worked - go figure. . .???
That makes perfect sense. The port used by FTP or SFTP could very well
have been blocked at the router level. It’s a common security setting.
