Sorry I am a newbie for web, so here is my stupid question.
I am having hard time creating a two color background in Freeway. I want to have my page on black and the outside of it in grey.
I created the page size in grey and add a graphic box and also tried an HTML item in black with the dimensions of the page, so to fake the look of a black page with the outside in grey.
My problem is that when I add text and rollovers, it constantly interacts with the graphic box or HTML item I have created. I want it just to be there locked in the background.
I looked on the manual but, I am having hard time figuring it out.
Hi,
I sometimes have problems with the same thing, but I seem to be able to work around it by selecting your graphic or html box which makes your black background and control clicking and choosing “send to back”. Also you might want to mess around with the “combine graphics” options if you are using a graphic box for your page background.
I’m sure some of the pros on this forum will be able to some more ideas.
Why not make your black graphic object, or html object that is to be the page color a non-layered object? Then use layered objects for the page contents.
Gugy,
Do you have FW set to “Show Items” in the site pane area? This might make it easier for you to select and manipulate rollovers within the graphic or html box with out fouling up other elements.
Below is a link to is a sample of what I’ve done that is simalar. The entire page area is surrounded by a graphic box with an outter glow effect. Inside of the graphic are rollovers, other graphics and html areas. It would be nearly impossible for me to do this without being able to select individual items in the site pane. http://frontrangeweb.com/tw/
Yeah,
Right now I have an HTML item (on the master page) and in the inspector “show” and “lock” are selected.
But the problem persists when I create new pages and add graphics and rollovers. Once in the while the HTML item gets selected when I add a rollover.
I would like the HTML item to be locked and do not interact at all. So it is just a background.
Makes sense now. So essentially a white colored container with a grey-outside background. Easily done through a box-model built site, it would be difficult using just drag and drop items because the container size would fluctuate.
I can put up a sample file to show you in a box-model how this would work based off the Veneno site as a reference. If you’re interested post here and I’ll whip one up.
What I’ve done is recreated the Veneno site (at least the architecture) into a box model version for Freeway 5 Pro. I’ve put some notes in there about where certain things could go and also notes about the footer being pushed down based on the content size of the columned layout of Veneno.
If you’re unsure about the box-model plan make sure to watch my tutorial video’s (both part 1 and part 2) and it should bring you up to being comfortable with it.
Hopefully this helps. If you have any questions post them here and I or someone else can help out. Enjoy!
