Upload advice needed

So here’s the scenario:

I’m in the early stages of designing a website for a band. There’s a download page with MP3s on it. When I use Freeway to upload, everything goes as expected for about an hour, then Freeway says “Could not complete upload, file could not be found”. It doesn’t say which file and all resources are “OK”. I’ve republished, trashed the site folder, all the normal tricks, but to no avail. So:

I uploaded the site using Transmit. No problems and the site is accessible and works as expected.

My question is simple; if I now use Freeway to upload the site (my preferred method) will it see the MP3s and consider them uploaded, or erase everything and try again?

Sorry if I’ve waffled on a bit and thanks in advance.

Freeway will most likely delete anything it did not upload itself. If you want to only upload the MP3s this way, what you could do is make a new folder in your server’s site folder called /music or something you aren’t using elsewhere in your site. Then upload all of your MP3s there, and in Freeway (when you are making the links for downloads) simply make the links manually, specifying /music/my_new_track.mp3 or similar.

That way Freeway tracks all the Web stuff, and Transmit does the heavy lifting on the media.

Many thanks Walter. That seems like a very neat solution.
