upload to a free host site problem

Hello

Not sure if anyone can help me.

I’ve created a small website in Freeway and uploaded it to one of the free hosting sites - Bravehost.

In return for the free hosting they add their own adverts, which is not a problem to me except that their footer is appearing in the middle of my pages.

Anyone know why this is happening and any cure?

This isn’t just a Freeway problem because I’ve read of others getting the same thing happening, but no one seems to know the cause or the solution so I hoped someone here might have some ideas.

This is my site: www.paulinechildminder.bravehost.com

Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas.

What I see is the adverts at the top not the middle?

Looks like Bravenet has some javascript to insert the ads before your code at the top of the page.

I do hope the adverts are in keeping with your web site subject and not a distraction. Did you know you could host your site without these ads for only few pence per week.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes there are adverts at the top, but do you not see the footer (links to various Bravehost sections) which is across the middle of the page?

There are links at the bottom of the page which look fine. do you mean these?

What browser (and version) are you using?

Yes that’s right, but I see them in the middle of the page. I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.20

If I enlarge the browser text then yes the footer does not move down, and the page text can/will flow through the footer.

Looks like will just have to make sure all your pages are short enough to fit the depth of the page so it does not run in to the footer links.

Or get some budget-friendly hosting from elsewhere.

Best idea. My hosting (with Clook, who are totally excellent) only
costs me a fiver a month, and there are many others which are cheaper.
You don’t need to put up with someone else’s adverts!

Yes, I do see this problem this on these longer pages.

I suppose short pages is the limitation of the free hosting on BraveNet.

Someone managed to correct this problem for me by removing the “height:100%” from this line:

but of course as soon as I upload my pages Freeway overwrites the change and puts it back in.

So, my next question is… is it possible to remove ‘height:100%’ within my Freeway document? and if so, how?

Thank you.

Hi Granny,

I’m pretty sure that you wouldn’t have this problem if you were using
Freeway 5. Alternatively you’d need an Action to get rid of the height:
100% option, there’s no other way to access the PageDiv from Freeway.

Regards,

Joe

Thanks Joe

I can’t have Freeway 5 yet unfortunately as I only have 10.2.8

But thank you for answering my query, it helps to know that I can’t do it in my current Freeway.

Pauline
