I have created my website using Freeway Pro (latest version).
I have bought a domain name with 1&1.
What next?
I click File>Upload and a window pops up with the following options:
Upload: (File Copy, FTP, FTPS, SFTP)*
Server:
Port:
Directory:
Username:
Password:
Web Address:
FTP Mode: (Automatic, Passive, Non-Passive)
*Options on drop-down menu.
I do not know what to type in for these fields, I assume the server is 1&1? Port I have no clue. Directory; no clue. Username and Password for what? Web Address; the domain name that I bought from 1&1? FTP Mode?!

All this info you should have got from 1&1 when you bought the hosting package

They are talking about the hosting servers themselves, not your computer. Generally speaking, unless you have a compelling business reason to do so, never host a public Web site on Windows. Please trust me on this. It will take years off of your life. Linux or Unix servers have a much better track record for security and are much easier to get support with (since they are more common, and behave in a mostly-predictable manner).
I’m not saying you shouldn’t host with David, he will definitely do right by you. Just so you understand what 1&1 was actually saying here. There is no such thing as a hosting provider that only works with Windows or Linux – the Web is completely platform-agnostic, and a major percentage of it was created on Mac anyway.

Hi Jack,
Did you just buy the domain alone? Did you order hosting? To have a Website you will need some web hosting.
