The first error normally means that you entered the wrong details.
The second error suggests you have now entered the correct details, but there is a problem with GoDaddy’s TLS/SSL certificate - perhaps it has expired or is invalid in some other way.
What I would do is to try to connect with a third-party upload application, and see if they also report certificate problems.
There might also be more information in Xway’s upload log: click on Copy Log in the Upload window, and paste it into a text editor.
Here’s a brief article on Godaddy’s problems :
“In 2024, GoDaddy users continue to face several SSL certificate issues. Common problems include certificate revocation, often due to improper configuration or failure to enforce HTTPS, which can lead to accessibility issues. Users also report difficulties with automatic renewal processes, resulting in unexpected expirations and service disruptions. Additionally, Java SSL configurations can be problematic, as some setups may not be compatible with GoDaddy’s certificates, causing further complications for developers. These issues highlight ongoing challenges with GoDaddy’s SSL services.” So
I think the most common reason for this is entering the wrong server name. For example, you might have entered your own domain name when it should be something like ftp.yourwebsite.com.
What details you need will be specific to your hosting provider and often hosting providers offer the details somewhere in your account dashboard.
This particular article seems to relate to a specific type of hosting GoDaddy offer and may not apply to you but it may be similar enough to help you find it or there may be an equivalent article for your hosting on there.
That would be so useful. I’m able to upload my Xway site via the GoDaddy control panel, but I’ve not been able to via the direct upload option from Xway.
Do GoDaddy provide instructions on how to upload for people who aren’t using their control panel?
The information you need is:
An upload method: e.g. FTPS or SFTP
The server / host name
The directory (or path) to the upload folder
A user name
A password
(Don’t publish your user name or password here.)
If you have that information, you could try connecting with a third-party upload application, such as Cyberduck (I think there is a free trial version). If this works, you should be able to use the same information in Xway.
One advantage of using a third-party application to test that you have the right information is that it allows you to connect without changing anything.
From what I can tell, GoDaddy support plain (insecure) FTP upload plus secure SFTP upload, so you should probably choose one of these upload methods in Xway and Cyberduck. Using a secure method (SFTP in this case) is much better, but while you are figuring out the correct details to use, it may be easier to start with FTP.
