When uploading a website without making any changes to many pages or content then many items appear to be re-uploaded even though they have not been altered. There is no change to the server or directory settings at all.
I keep hoping that during the ‘comparing’ of files that the unaltered content will be recognised as such and will not require uploading again.
In particular this is an issue when there is a mov file which is quite large. Is there a way that I can just reference this file and ftp it separately?
Its usually the case that freeway compares the files and only uploads those that have been modified. Not sure what your issue there is.
With these troublesome quicktime files I have temporarily removed the content from the boxes in order to allow me to upload the start of modifications to the rest of the website. Its held me up a lot today trying to resolve this.
I’m going to try and rebuild the page from scratch and try try again!
I’m not sure if its just an issue with the server or the file I’m trying to upload. I have used the same set up on other sites with no trouble. The rest of the site uploads no problem.
How does Freeway’s ftp compare to other ftp software?
Is it easy enough just to put a link to the movie file and ftp the actual quicktime movie via transmit to something else?
Ok I’ll upload things later today and let you know when its up.
Thanks.
I am using Version 5.4.3 (627.1) which I think is the latest for my operating system.
I hope to upgrade to Leopard soon. I have the disk and just need to check that the transition is not too disruptive.
Thats me managed to get the page uploaded and actually working. Its not perfect but it works.
Not sure if it was maybe just a bandwidth issue when uploading. I would still like to see if there is a way to reference a quicktime file so that it could be uploaded separately but still appear as designed.
With all the abandoned and failed uploads of the movie the previous time then the content of the website itself got a bit dishevelled and I’d like to try and avoid that happening again.
