User registration

I am going to run supervision seminars online, using some kind of webinar platform - perhaps Zoom. There will eventually be perhaps 20-30 people attending each session. I am going to charge for them. So, I want to create a page in Freeway where people can register, become a user, make a selection of which dates they want to attend. It would then take them to say a Paypal page, where they pay, and then return. I would then get that information, and would send them links to the webinar before it starts. Of course, as much as possible I want to automate the whole process.
Suggestions? How can I create this kind of user registration and tracking of orders? I know that originally Freeway sort of liased with Mals shopping cart, but I never found that very smooth, and its not really set up for what I am talking about. I want to actually have a sort of db of users, who login, check their orders, etc.

From the sound of it this isn’t so much a FW thing as a programming
one. You can use FW to create the front-end but if you want to tie it
all into a db of some sort and automate most (or all) of what you
mentioned then that will almost certainly require some technical chops.

Automation is expensive in terms of time and money. It can get
complicated very quickly depending on how “hands-off” you want to be. As
for the specific functionality you want you might (?) be able to find
canned scripts to do some of the work but the trick is getting all of
these disparate parts to function together seamlessly. And that’s
assuming a canned script does exactly what you want out of the box
(rare). God help you should you need to hack it to your needs.

You may be able to piece something together off-the-shelf but I suspect
it might require lowering your expectations somewhat, unless you have
mad programming skills and can build what you want, exactly how you
want. That or pony up some long green and hire a developer to build it
for you.

I’ve been involved in some projects that required varying types and
degrees of automation (some easy, some not) and it’s always more
difficult and more work than expected. Always.

Thanks. I cant code, so wont be doing backend stuff (thats why I use Freeway!). The big issue is the user db… love to plug something into Freeway, but seems not really likely. Oh well.

You don’t necessarily have to throw in the towel just yet.

As I said, you could probably find a pre-made script (or several) to do
some or most of the automation and db stuff you want. Look on HotScripts
or similar. It’s just that you may need to make some concessions along
the way. Hooking it into FW probably isn’t your biggest hurdle.
