Interesting but I see that it uses Jquery - I wonder if there might not be problems coexisting with the FW script/protaculous actions.
Also it appears that there is no built in upload image facility.
But at $9.99 per site it is not a lot of investment.

Hello David,
JQuery has not cause any issues for me so far and find the app pretty solid.
Also there is a built in easy to use file and image uploader.
Cheers

I think he was talking about using both Protaculous / Scripty language based actions with this JQuery set up as the two programming languages clash and cause havoc when used together.
Some would use the phrase, “…cause havoc with undesired effects.”

True, could be, I did not get a chance to use both scripts, but have been using other scripts and Veolay seems to work great with them.
Plus as David said its only $9.99, it seems to be really reasonable for me cause at the end of the my clients can makes updates on the design itself easily, plus on Admin I get to add my client’s branding easily which I find really practical.

Where does the updated content get stored, actually? Does this script overwrite the HTML on the server? Or is there a separate data store somewhere else on the server? Because this might not be such a great fit with Freeway if it’s editing the HTML. In the Freeway world, HTML is an artifact, a light-weight snapshot of the design document that can and will be overwritten at the very next publish. Without some sort of external data store that Freeway can’t see and overwrite, this is doomed to be a one-way trip.

Hello Walter,
I understand your point of view.
But for my requirements Veolay a perfect fit. It saved content on the same html page, but it overwrites ONLY the area defined by the designer and does not write any crappy code.
I think Veolay is designed to make it simple for designers, thats why instead of driving data from another source such as a database it saves data on the html page itself, cause after all if there is a database involved it would be a bit of a hassle for a designer who has less understanding about database setup and php. There are other “database-free” solutions out there which use a text
file or other external store to work their magic, and don’t rely on a
database and all that requires in the way of setup. WebYep is one
great example. I think it would be wonderful if Veolay looked at that
as a possible avenue for future versions, because that would make for
a much more Freeway-friendly workflow.
I’m looking out for you here – I completely agree that many designers
find traditional databases somewhat challenging. What I’m talking
about is your plan for the future, presuming that you have clients who
are repeat or long-term customers.
Your client goes off and makes a lot of content changes, and loves
them. And then she comes back to you and asks for a few graphic tweaks.
Now suddenly you have to go through and manually compare and update
the Freeway pages with whatever the current version is on the Web. You
copy and paste from the Web, which introduces a hundred new temporary
styles to your carefully-crafted pages, and try as you might, you miss
a couple of changes. Then you upload.
Your client finally reads it (once it’s live, naturally), and has one
or two unkind things to say.
I’ve lived this, and I don’t recommend it for anyone.

One of the issues I have with editors like this is no option for adding “plain” text. It can make big difference giving a client the ability to run riot with styles and pictures and tables.

When I mean “plain text” I’m not just meaning editing globally the
config file in the rich text editor to remove tools (a choice if what
rich text tools for a section is important ~ but you cant usually
specify no tools for a heading and all tools for a full column of
text in the CMS), I mean the ability to create “plain text” e.g. no
HTML text.
For Example with WebYep you can allocate a short text fields to use
plain text. This means you can edit a single line heading, or even a
“Page Title” or "page description tag. Going further with a plain
text field you can make calculations if they contain numbers. On
top of that you have a plain text item, then you have a rich text
item, e.g. lots of choice.
