I love the Vertical Align Action and use it often with my site designs. However, I see it no longer works with Freeway Pro 7. Is there a workaround, or a new page action available?

Difficult (very difficult for me personal) to answer here.
FW7 is massive step into the direction of “adaptive” webdesign which is a dynamic process rather than sticking to world of static widths and heights.
So in your case I could think of thumbnails, increased in size for desktop, but re-arranged vertically (one below the other) on a mobile device.
So technically spoken:
By doing this, a page doesn’t have a height cause height is steered by its content. But for making vertical align happens, it requires a defined height.
But I might be wrong naturally and the action writer rushes in and says: I know how to fix …
