WebYep is now available for free

From obdev

Version 1.7.2 has been released - WebYep is now available for free!

From now on the standard version of WebYep is available for free.

You can use WebYep in any website free of charge, provided that you do not change the WebYep logo and product name (the logo is only displayed in edit mode - it’s not visible for visitors of your website).

Hmm. That could mean end of life for development.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe their focus has moved elsewhere.

Which presumably also means end of life for the White version eventually?

I don’t know if I would jump to that conclusion. I am thinking that they are feeling the pinch of the other CMSen in this space, and are making a land-grab for users. If you can use it for free with the logo showing, then that might make people try it who then decide to white-label it.

Is it still using the dated UI for editing? They should update this for paid usage.

Hi
Just to say OBDes decision on going free was purely down to the amount of man hours the webyep product was costing them in direct support and they felt that now webyep has a big enough following/knowledge base, that it was a good time to go free but at the same time drop the personal support.

As far as UI inroads had ben made into that, especially in the menu which had quite a bit of work done to it. As far as the other webyep items they can be styled and I was going to look into that to see what would could be done.

Wish I’d held off buying it for a couple of sites at the end of last year!
