I’m trying to build a site using WebYep to add client managed content but I can’t get past step one on the actions tutorial by Max!
I’ve created the web page, uploaded the webyep-system, changed the permissions to 777, transferred the web page via FTP to a folder on my server but when I open the site and get the ‘padlock’ that’s it. If I click on the padlock I get a new browser window open with what I assume is the correct title: “www.mydomain/cms_test/webyep-system/program/logo.php?LOGO_PAGE_URL=%2Fcms_test%Findex.php”
…but it’s just a blank white window. Nowhere to type in username and password.
I’m using FreewayPro 5.5.7
WebYep 1.6.1 (free test version so I’m expecting the “DEMO” text at some point, just haven’t got that far yet)
WebYep action suite from Max
and Transmit FTP
Anyone know what I’m doing wrong - or something I should have done and haven’t - some initialisation I’ve missed?
OK,
It would appear at first glance that the webyep system on the server is not pulling the pages/resources for webyep which are held in : webyep-system/program
I am presuming that all elements were successfully uploaded. I don’t know transmit as I use Fetch but the only other things I can think of are
reuploading the webyep-system/program folder in binary mode(Raw Data) mode (Warning if you have any data in webyep do not reupload the data folder as this may well overwrite the data folder.) i
Or
The webyep folder is not being found in the /cms_test/ folder
Transmit is pretty much the same as fetch (just slightly difference user interface).
Yes, I looked at the log-in window as ‘source’ and there isn’t anything there.
I’m trying to run this test site from within a folder on my main domain (I don’t want to over-write my current web site. Do you know if WebYep needs to be in the root of the domain to work, or just the root of the particular site it applies to?
It should just be in the root of the particular site. When I create a test site for a clients I follow a folder structure
mydomain/clients/clientA
and place the webyep system in the clientA folder and find that this works for all I need. All I have to do when the site is transferred is change the document file in the data folder for the new path.
Have you got MAMP? I sometimes use this on my Mac first before uploading onto a webserver. Have you also tried posting on the Obdev forum http://forums.obdev.at/viewforum.php?f=21
No, I haven’t got MAMP (just googled it, perhaps I ought to have a look at it)
I’ll post my questions on the OBDEV forum, just thought I’d try here as Freeway users have always been the most helpful of all the user groups I’ve tried in the past
Personally I use MAMP all the time for locally testing while building new sites especially when using webyep and then use file transfer rather than ftp into the MAMPs htdocs/project_folder especially as when you change html to php you can no longer preview it in Freeway.
Hi
just had a quick look at your set up and I can see that the webyep system is not in the root of your server. Even though you can place the webyep system within a sub folder, I have had problems on some servers. If you contact me directly it would be easier to get you up and running quickly
