WordPress and Blogger

I’m about to start a blog or two and was wondering what the latest consensus was on these two options.

It seems a lot more people favor WordPress, but it also seems a little inflexible to a non-coder, and to get the real benefit out of it, you need to dig into the code.

Blogger is free and easy to use, but folks don;t seem to take it as a serious blogging platform.

I appreciate any information on people’s opinions or experience with wither.

Thanks.

Bob

Wordpress is fairly easy to get up and running out-of-the-box but if you need to modify templates to change the appearance, for example, then it can be overwhelming if you’re not accustomed to doing such things. Plus, you can’t use FW. On the upside there’s a tremendous amount of plug-n-play functionality that can be added with just a few clicks. Also, remember that WP is a complete website solution, it’s not something that’s typically tacked onto an existing site, it is the site.

Instead of Blogger you could use something like Perch which has a Blog app and is designed to be integrated into an existing static site which means in terms of design control you can continue to use FW, with Wordpress you can’t.
