First… thank you, thank you, thank you for getting Freeway import to work! It’s allowed fairly painless updating for me. Being able to import 50 web pages and tweek them rather than rebuilding from scratch was a life saver.
But I came across something that users like me (non coders) should be aware of. XWay changed the way pages are named if they’re multi word. For example my page “Radio Cage” was radiocage.html in Freeway but became radio-cage.html in XWay, breaking all the links I’ve posted on FB and user forums.
XWay also allows longer names. voltagecontrolle.html from Freeway became voltagecontrolledmixer.html in XWay.
Luckily it was a simple but somewhat tedious task to revert them so the old links continue to work, but it’s maybe something folks should be aware of… or maybe I missed a warning somewhere.
Page names in Freeway and in Xway can be automatically generated or set manually. Automatic names are generated from page titles, and they change if the page title is changed. Xway’s rules for generating automatic names are slightly different than Freeway’s rules, and this is noted in the Xway User Guide (see the Page properties section of the Pages and folders chapter).
However, as I think you’ve discovered, you can set names manually, so if you want a page name to be radiocage.html instead of radio-cage.html, you can enter the old Freeway name manually.
Thanks Jeremy, I had a feeling this was in the manual somewhere. I did read through it before diving in, but now after using Xway for a few weeks I should go back and reread it.
