NEW… please look at mangumandsons.com
where the current page color selection is NOT green as set in CSS Menu… which has Highlight current page checked, use content width checked and links are:
link blue
hover red -underline checked
click not checked not used
current page GREEN
Gone thru the process 3 times and still current page only goes with a green underline when the mouse is there.
What have I missed??
Is the fact that borders are checked interfering??
The important thing to remember about styling links in the CSS Menu item is that there should be NO colour attributes on your text. So if you have applied any (black) then remove them.
The settings in the CSS Menu action are the ONLY way you should be adding colour.
On your index page there is a setting under the 3rd Tab in the inspector which allows you to choose a Target (pic below) - at present yours is set as: Current Window/Tab _self
If you ensure that this field is blank then links from that index page will NOT open in a new window (as they currently are) - unless you meant for that to happen?
THANKS. the ‘color’ showed black but is no way to change it to the usual long x showing no color in the inspector window. So I changed color slicers to zero and published which gave no color to the page titles.(there was no box with an elongated x in it in FW6.1?
Instead I opened the background area and specified color blue in that area and red in the other area for text. The text says light blace with a blue background so at least there is a color for the open page open.
I==
The ‘target’ aspect you mentioned was not clear to me as I do not have that page in Express.
All you have done is change the text colour to grey #7B7D73 - so now your links are grey instead of the link colours that you are applying in the action interface.
I am sorry I do not have Express to be able to give you clearer instructions as to where you can find that Target selector but it must be in the Inspector and is likely to show when you have no items selected on your FW page.
Look again at the image below - do you have an icon like the one ringed at the top? If so then it is likely to be under there. Make sure that you have no items on the FW page selected.
As far as your link colours go - try selecting all the text within the CSS Menu item and set the colour to none to see if that does what you want.
Thats for the help. No page in Express like that in Pro. But the way I have it now with a background and underline changes, it is okay.
Appreciatae the insight

If you go to http://mangumandsons.com/ and then click on one of the page links ie challenges, solutions, actions etc. then it opens a new browser window to display the linked page.
I am assuming that this is NOT the desired behaviour.
Well maybe I don’t comprehend something basic. I thoght that at any web site if I am on site page 1 and there are to other pages, and I choose to look at page 22 for example
(whatever its name)… when I click on page 22 I see page 22
Is there some other way?
look at changingchange.info and see on that please …as that seems to be the ‘right’ way??
You may see the page you expect, but you are opening a new window in the browser to see it. If your browser is set to open a new tab when a new window is requested, then you are getting a new tab. The hint will be that if you click on one of these links, instead of the new page replacing the current page in your browser, a new tab or window – with no history (the back button won’t work) – is created. The correct behavior is that only one window is open for your entire site visit. Opening a new window is bad.

on changingchange.info
clicking on the back button DOES TAKE the viewer to the prior page
and that seems like a lot simplier than a whole bunch of tabs having been opened???
seems to me it’s a matter of preference.
you like tabs
I don’t like tabs
look at changingchange.info and see on that please
Yes the links work as expected at changingchange.info
So there is a difference in the settings between these 2 sites of which I have shown you the Pro equivalent. I dont know exactly where this setting is in Express but you are looking for something that changes the base Target attribute. Yours is set to
thanks… after studying the tutorials PDF I found dthe target window and here it what I find: all show Target "current Window/Tab_self… BUT WHEN I OPEN the little downtriangle it shows that is checked with the options of
Parent Frame _Present
Topmost Frame _top
New Window/Tab _Blank
in addition to the current window/tab_self which is CHECKED.
SO if i understand rightly I should check New Windoe/Tab _Blank on each page???
(your patience IS appreciated!!
D… PS… the basic problem may be this:
changingchange.info used an existing template from FWExpress 5 mangumsons.com uses a new BLANK template from FWExpress 6 and may have that inherent in it’s ‘frame’ structure??? I found numerous p ages in the pdf about ‘frames’ but do not yet understand any of it. I thought I was using a completely blank setup, but maybe there was stuff that I don’t know about.
I tried to include the png file showing the page optons from Express but did not succeed.
There is no option or way to select blank in the PAGE area.
So??
You should be able to select all the content in the Target box and delete it - again without a copy of FWE I can’t be precise about this.
If you use -blank then EVERY link will open in a new browser window.
The Frames thing is a red herring. I don’t think there are any FW templates that use a Framed construction - at least there shouldn’t be as it is very old hat.
OKAY I put cursor in page window target box, back spaced and deleted all text s
so target window was blank (nothing showing)
saved and republished; uploaded ftp and checked in safari sees clean. That right?
