I’m rebuilding my Freeway site using an old version of Freeway Pro 3.5.15 and I use to upload my site via dial up (yes dial up) to a freespace account provided by virgin. It appears this is no longer available. I’m not in a position to pay for hosting due to unemployment at present does anyone know where I can host my site for free and upload via broadband. I really don’t want to go down the route of using a template style free site as I want to demonstrate my creativity with Freeway, however if I can’t get free hosting I’ll have to go down that route as I have to showcase my work somewhere.
Kevin, just make sure you change the ip address that your domain is pointing to and the name server as well. If you do it that way you will be able to use 000webhost as long as you want.
Don’t I just redirect from my domain provider? i.e. point it to the 000webhost address. This is what I’ve done in the past when I used virgin freespace. I’m also hoping to build a couple of sites for friends and set them up this way as well.

Yes of course you can.
I would encourage your friends to buy some webspace though and if you are clever you can get them to finance webhosting space for yourself where you can host their sites too.
That’s the plan when I actually get some work. The whole point of my site right now is to showcase my work and get my back in to employment with someone. I may use ineedwebhosting in the future, the trouble is because they are friends they don’t want to pay! It’s a good route to go down though.
Don’t forget to check if your ISP includes some free web hosting. Virgin Media, for example, provides 200MB for its customers.

Thanks I was using freespace with my Virgin account I’ve moved address and recently upgraded to Broadband with Virgin. I was trying to access my Virgin freespace but gave up as when I set it up I was using dial up. That’s why I was looking for free hosting. I have sent Virgin an email so I’ll see what they say.
You may still be better off with 000webhost.com, though.

Thanks I didn’t know about this I’ll take a look. I may be able to upload temporary newsletters or other people’s sites here if not. I’ll see but give it a go. Thanks for the tip off
I have a firm rule – I never charge friends for anything I do for them. I also try very hard to set expectations that I will not drop everything and do this thing before I do paying work, either.

All I can say is - Friends who know your employment situation and don’t want to pay you are not the sort of friends you need right now!

Agreed, under normal circumstances.
But a true friend would use this as a good reason to help you out while you are down avoiding the possible embarrassment of receiving a handout from them.
It works both ways - if it was your friend who was unemployed you would do what you could to help?
I missed that angle. I meant more along the lines of a friend who knows what I do, and asks for a favor that’s specific to my skill set. If I had a friend who was unemployed, and they told me they were unemployed (not necessarily the case, I don’t share every little thing with friends) I would probably try to help them without being asked.
