I’m making this announcement here before turning on the “Check for updates” feature in Freeway so that you can be our early adopters or guinea pigs, depending how you look at it.
The most notable addition is responsive styles. You can now change the appearance of text in breakpoints. This is either done using the Inspector (for temporary styling) or the Edit Styles dialog. For a quick run through, see the Styling section in the Intro to Responsive Design KnowledgeBase Article: Introduction to Responsive Design - Freeway - Softpress Talk
Other additions include:
Updated templates – all eight of the bundled templates are now responsive
The ability to set Size option on background images – options are Auto (the existing behaviour), Cover (always fill the item) and Contain (show the whole image), and a pixel/percentage value.
SVGs can now be output as images (the new default) and plugins. To do this, the SVGs must be imported as pass throughs, otherwise they’ll get converted to web graphics.
This is a big one; it’s completely free for Freeway 7 users and we think you’re going to love it. If you haven’t yet upgraded to 7, now\s the time to do it.
Any feedback, reply to this thread or get us at support(at)softpress.com.
Cheers!
Joe

I downloaded this version, un-zipped it, moved it to the applications
folder, and clicked the “Use Trial” button. It will not initiate. The
program will not start. All the screens allow is to join the mailing list.
Any ideas as to why the program will not even start?
Thanks,
Peter

There’s a “Close” button at the bottom right of that window, or hitting Return should also clear it, in case it’s hidden off screen or something. From there you can use the application as normal.
That work for you?

I use that “Close” button. The screen vanishes. Nothing else appears.
Clicking the Freeway icon does nothing. Freeway appears to be running.
But it displays nothing. I can right click and close Freeway. But I
cannot raise a screen to allow me to use Freeway.
I can then open it again, get that same welcome screen and do these
steps again and again.
How might I get the actual Freeway program screen to display so that I
can use the program?
Thank you

Maybe try File/New? Freeway is a document-cetered application. You have to have a document open to use it.

We are truly interested in checking out Freeway.

You should see a menu at the top of the window, like this:
Freeway Pro File Edit Page Etc…
If not, can you try pressing Command-N.

Nothing appeared so, as you suggested, I pressed Command-n.
That brought out of hiding a “start here” type screen.
Your tutorial looks great: logical and thorough.
Please, 2 questions:
1.) The start screen wants to install templates. Is there a specific
Freeway folder that we should install the templates into? If not, where
should they go?
2.) In general, can we initiate a discussion on our sites where visitors
can enter their opinions that will then get posted automatically by
FreewayPro to that discussion thread? We need this feature for our
sites: ComplaintCenter.com & OpinionCenter.com & others.
If someone could please respond to those 2 questions, we can proceed to
use our last 15 days of trial period to learn and hopefully purchase
FreewayPro.
Thank you.

1st off… thanks for the update Joe… and the added bonus of the responsive templates. I already have purchased the marketplace versions, so it gives me a nice bundle of templates to start with.
The reason I’m posting a reply is that there is a curious issue with the new version after it has been installed on my system ( iMac OSX 10.9.5 ) that keeps insisting that there is an update available. It states that I have version 7.1 installed and that 7.10 is available. While I’m sure that I can simply skip this, I thought I’d bring it to your attention, if it has not come up already… ( I have restarted my mac, but the issue persists )
Cheers,
Doug

Thanks for letting us know. It should be fixed now and correctly report that it’s up-to-date.
