I mean we have Freeway which is supposed to be
this shit-hot web
development software, yet the very nature of what it is advertising
isn’t even used
by it’s little brother application, Intaglio. I want to be wow’ed

To be honest, I’m not sure what you’re getting at with the above quote.

Tom,

Just to confirm that this seems to work; in Mail a rule: “To”
“contains” “email@hidden”

seems to move most of this lists messages to my Intaglio folder.

Hi John

Hmm this is interesting…and hooray it works!

I had it set up as ‘from’ instead of ‘to’

Now I feel like a bit of an idiot! :¬/ LOL!

Thanks again!

Something more sinister has come to light recently.
Ever since I have been posting in this list, I have been
inundated by spam. I’m pointing any fingers yet, but the one clear
advantage of vbulletin or phpbb type forums is that they hide
my email address, whereas here- I am ‘butt-naked’ so to speak.
i.e. It is very easy on this list to get others email addresses.

I’ve always been very careful to avoid spam, but for the past few months
they have been coming with as many posts as 15 or so a day,
everyday. The possibility only arose this morning after reading
another posters request- and it made me think.

I’ve looked at the options available at;

http://freewaytalk.net/person/edit

but there is nothing there that could offer any help.

What can the list as it stands do to protect me or other members
against spammers? Nick?

Hey, thanks,

yes, I get awful things sent to me because I did not at one time understand how internet communication works, and can work, sadly, to get you down every time you open your inbox.

Nonetheless, thanks for your guidance.

I am trying to teach myself how to make full color layouts of text, artful type text, though, like an old-fashioned “sign-painter” would “hand letter” on poster board, with a photo, simple line graphic or “star” splash, or buzz- type thing like an ad in a direct mail piece would feature to get attention.

The mac set says you can do this in AW6;my buddy from the ad world says Intaglio is best, but so far, I am just getting by in WORD for MAC, 2004. Using Word Art, and the stretcher, flip 180 degree commands. There’s gotta be a better way.

Do I have to go to a separate piece of hardware that lets you “draw” onto your work from off the keyboard? What is the technological state of that, what did they call it? stylus stuff? It was pretty bad for real artists when it came out…or is there a way to scan into my computer (a MAC G3 laptop) hand drawn sketches, and then use a frame or text box to treat what I have done by hand as a photo imported, e.g.

Please try to answer me, if you have time, using references to menu options and commands that somebody who can type real good but has no working knowledge of illustrator or page maker type software.

Thanks

I use several forums and this is definaley not the one I like best with regards to functionality. So I agree!

But - funny enough - the page you referred to does not open in Camino, which is my preferred browser

Will this problem also affect a forum design, do you think ?

No offence Litta, but did you actually notice when I posted the
original thread, or are you just hoping to restart a thread that most
of us have already concluded?

As for Camino, I apologize for that, but quite honestly, and in my
honest opinion, Safari is a far better browser than Camino. Also, from
what I can remember, and I may be wrong here, Camino doesn’t use Apple
services. I can’t work without services.

Hi Tom
You were right about the permissions, but unfortunately, I found out that a few of my programs will not work i Leopard, so I am going to stick to Tiger for the time being.

Regarding Safari, I used it for many years, ever since it first was released and really liked it. But some places I frequently use, does not!
For different reasons I use 3 different banks online and what I found out was that they had to be opened in 3 different browsers: Safari, Opera and Firefox - only Camino was able to use all 3. I did contact all 3 banks and they were aware off the problem, but really did not bother - most people use PCs anyway…

But Firefox is the only one that can access files in an archive that I use for Genealogy research, so I still have to use more than one browser.

It is so annoying that developers only think PC and IE !!

It has been some time since I tried Safari, so maybe I will give it a try and see if it has changed.

But ONE thing I miss in Safari is the favicons in the menuline!! In Camino, it is so fast to find a site when one has that little image next to it. Why they do not implement that in Safari is a puzzle to me.

Regards,
Litta

Is there any reason why a google group wouldn’t work? They are free, fast, reliable, accessible from anywhere, and work as a mailing list or a forum according to your preferences?

Setting one up would only take a few seconds.
