Another thing you could try is to reboot in “Safe” mode:

Thanks Jeremy. Tried but no change. Same problems. Given that the High Sierra users here are not experiencing my problems, reinstalling is all i can think of now.

Freeway can have problems with bad fonts. Gordon Low mentioned recently (FreewayTalk 1-Jun-2018) that this might have got worse in 10.13.
