  1. Enter your website address in: File > Document Set Up > Upload
  2. Apply the Site Mapper action for the site folder
  3. Apply the Site Mapper File Location action to the homepage
  4. If you need seperate preferences for certain pages then you can apply the Site Mapper Page Options action to those pages - if not, ignore this step.
  5. Upload your finished site
  6. Once you have uploaded your site, click the Site Folder in you FW document and go to the Site Mapper action in the actions pallette then click the small arrow next to ‘Submitting your sitemap’ and check the ‘Yes, the site has been uploaded…’
  7. You can now click the ‘Submit site map’ button.

As others have mentioned, Firefox seems to have an issue submitting to Yahoo, but Safari is fine. So if you are using Firefox, open Sarafi and make it your default browser, then ‘Submit site map’.

I think that’s all ok.

I must be really thick.

How you do this:
“Apply the Site Mapper action for the site folder”

What is the “site folder”?

Thanks in advance

I believe it would entail selecting “Site folder” in the Freeway sidebar at the left, then choose “Folder actions…” from the Page menu. In there you should find the Site Mapper action.

Bear in mind that I’m not on FW 5.5 yet, but unless something has radically changed in the update, my instructions should work.

Thanks a lot, actually I did not make it clear.
I knew what the “site folder” was, I was totally unaware that there was a “Folder Action” and I tried to apply it from the “Page Action”.

Thanks again, great help!

Resurrecting this thread…

I’ve done all the steps but can’t seem to get Site Mapper to use Safari. I’ve made it my default. Even restarted Freeway, but it still uses Firefox.

Also, I’ve now “submitted” quite a few times trying to get this to work with Safari. Does this actually keep submitting my site?

Thanks.

Resurrecting this thread…again

I’ve just followed the above to add the Site Mapper action. When I get to the part of ‘You can now click the ‘Submit site map’ button.’ what comes up is a Freeway page design, titled ‘untitled 9’ with a design on it.

What am I to do with this file. Save it, delete it, puplish it or what??

I’m om FW Pro 5.5.6 and the action is Stite Mapper 1.5

Can any body help.

Regards

Lee

What you should see is something like this

site_map

Have you followed all the steps including uploading the site to the server?

Hi David

I’ve followed what Nathan wrote. All I get is the design page that was done in FW.

I’ll remove it from the site and reapply again. Have just looked on the site - http://www.pal4paws.co.uk - and the site map is showing.

I must be doing something wrong.

What design page do you see?

Is it on the web too?

Hi Lee,

When you double click HTML files in the Finder do they open in Freeway? If so, select any HTML file in the Finder and press Command-i to bring up the Info window and change the “Open With” section to your default browser.

Hi Lee,
The Action generates the submission page internally and then passes this off to the Finder to open and display to you. As a regular HTML page it should open in your default web browser. It looks as if the file is getting opened (and imported) into Freeway by mistake. This would suggest that the file associations on your Mac are somewhat messed up. Try selecting any .html file and go to File > Get Info. In the resulting window you should see a section called ‘Open with’. If this is currently set to Freeway then change it your preferred web browser and click on the ‘Change All’ button. The file (in fact all .html files) should now open in that browser.

Tim.

Hi David, Joe & Tim

Thanks for your help. Problem sorted… It’s what you guys said it was.

I don’t know when the file associations got changed for these types of files.

Anyway, thanks
