Having trouble getting my pages to preview in Safari browser or any other browser for that matter. Sorry to waste time on such a simple matter but I’ve looked all over the forum and web for a solution and am at a loss.
Thank You,
Marcie Mayer
What are you experiencing when you click on the Browser icon in the top right of your FW page?
Any error message?
You can add/edit Browsers using File>Preview in Browser>Browser Setup where you have the options to Add (New) Delete, Edit and Update your Browser list.
Have you set up Freeway Pro to work with your browser? Menu FILE > PREVIEW
IN BROWSER > BROWSER SETUP?
Have you defined a Site Folder for Freeway Pro to publish to, and your
browser to read from? Menu FILE > DOCUMENT SETUP > Document Pane, Site
Folder, SELECT ?
Give some more detail about the steps you are taking and specifically what
is or isn’t happening.

Thanks for your prompt replies!
“There are no items based on this item so a preview can’t be generated” where my drop down dialogs boxes should be. With File>Preview in Browser>Safari (which I have set as default browser) I get a DBox saying 2 items of HTML are problematic and then the Freeway App crashes. I am on a trail version and hope Freeway can help me transition several sites from Bluevoda.
Are you trying to Preview a master page which has no children based on it?
Only child pages can be previewed.
2 items of HTML are problematic
FW should tell you which items ie item1, item1a and if you have the page/site sidebar set to page (so that all items on the page are listed) then you should be able to identify which items are the problem.
Trying to preview a child page that I’ve named index.
I’ve gotten past the css menu notice and now get “publish to see” note. When I try to publish I get this vague msg:
one or more HTML files which do not belong to this site will be overwritten. Do you want to continue? When I click OK “Freeway quit unexpectedly” and I must reopen.
No specific HTML files are sited.
Thanks,
Marcie
Followed your advice, and created new site folder. This time when I tried to preview - FW crashed without the HTTP error msg?! Frustrated! I’ve checked all my paths and cannot imagine what the problem is at this very early stage on FW.
Not exactly sure where the problem was. I seem to have made active buttons out of elements on the left beige column without intending. FW is a fussy, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to get the dialog drop down to look better but see that the sample templates don’t do much better. DD, do you know if my pages will be truer to design when published? Thanks, M
You (hopefully) are the only person that can see this link, since it starts with file:///. That means it’s on your Mac, not a public server.
And to answer your question, your pages will look precisely the way they do when you Preview them as when you Publish them. In both cases, you are exporting the HTML and assets and then viewing them in a browser. The only difference is in the URL, whether the file is published to a public server or kept locally on your Mac.
Your pages are shorter because they always shrink to fit the content you place in them. If you need the pages to be a defined height, try adding a visible element (an empty graphic box will do) at the bottom of the height you would like to define. That will force the page to become taller to fit around that element.
I’m having a few new problems. My css drop down menu title bar is interfering with the entire page setup. Rollover buttons are not rolling over and nothing looks the same when previewed!
Walter, thanks for the great explanation on getting pages to act longer. I’ll do some reading and have another go in the morning.

This is probably a layering issue. You may need to select items, ensure that they are layers and make sure that the right ones are above others. Layer order can be changed using the Item Menu. ie select a layer Item>Send to Back, Bring to Front etc.
But to really be able to help you properly we need to see something online.
Also if you are working on a site based on a FW Template it would help us if we knew which one.
New to FW so I’m not quite sure how to share links, hope this works. Going out for a walk so somebody has the chance to look at my current predicament. If you bring your cursor slightly down from the dark blue rectangle you will see the 2nd cyan rectangle. Both rectangles are positioned one atop the other in the cyan position when I work in FW. Why would 1 of the boxes reposition? Our current site is 26 pages and I am anxious to finish the Master page so we can get it all up!
Thanks, M
