Hi, Jeremy.

Congratulations on the imminent release!

I assume we just need to keep reloading softpress.com until an X-Way ā€œbuyā€ link appears?

Will there please be video tutorials? Iā€™ve tried a few times over the years to use the beta versions, but I just do not get it. I have been using Freeway Pro since 2009.
Lately, I have been learning the Mac-only WYSIWYG web editor RocketCake and it is pretty cool and there are DOZENS of tutorial videos available for free on YouTube.

Cooooool! Obviously, Iā€™ll be backing the new app with actual wongaā€¦ because moral support alone wont keep the wolves from the door or keep the lights on!

ā€¦ like repeatedly pressing the button at a pedestrian crossing to make it change faster?

Weā€™ll also make an announcement here.

Hi Robert,

There will be video tutorials, fairly soonā€¦

Iā€™m looking forward to the imminent release of Xway.
Itā€™ll be interesting to see how it imports the site I look after, which has been kept going by using Parallels to update it.
Itā€™s quite complex, as it has grown over the years!
Iā€™ll keep you posted as to what happens to the import.
Great work!
Cheers, Steve.

Jeremy, sounds exciting! Iā€™m a 20-year Freeway user, still using Fwy Pro7. Iā€™m hoping to be able to use Xway, with its coming Freeway import feature. But I need your advice.

  1. I can partition my Mac and keep my Fwy Pro7 website ā€” www.jimfeeney.org ā€” on the partition using Mac OS 10.14.6 forever. Orā€¦

  2. Iā€™m age 81 and pretty low tech. Over my 20 years using Freeway, Iā€™ve cobbled together an effective personal checklist for adding new pages to my website. I follow that meticulously and have had some success (40K monthly unique visitors).
    a) Will the Freeway to Xway import be fairly seamless, giving pretty much a ready-to-upload Xway website right away?
    b) Or will I need to do a lot of page-by-page labor on my 560 pages one at a time to get it working right to upload to the internet? I should add, I have well over 10,000 internal links. Again, Iā€™m 81 and fairly low tech.

I would appreciate your candid advice. Would you suggest easy option 1) above (the partition)? Or does 2)a) sound like what Xway will do out of the box? [Iā€™m kind of dreading 2)b).] Many thanks for your help.

Hi Jim,

My initial reaction is that you might need to do a fair amount of work on a 560-page Freeway site.

But having looked at your website, I donā€™t think it should be too difficult for Xway to import. It is already flexible, and the pages I looked at appear to be using CSS layout rather than table layout. Internal links shouldnā€™t be a problem.

If there are specific problems, we will try to work with you on these.

Xway and Freeway both run under macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave), so you donā€™t need to partition your Mac immediately.

Thanks, Jeremy. I think Iā€™ll make a run at Xway when itā€™s released, downloading my FWy Pro 7 website and seeing what changes I need to make. Thanks. Iā€™ll keep in touch if problems arise.

Very exciting that a proper version is coming soon and that it can open Freeway documents. As part of that will it be able to feature Exhibeo slideshows?

Hi Noel,

Recent-ish versions of Exhibeo 2 have an export command which allows you to choose between Export to Xway, Export to Freeway, and Export to HTML. You will need to re-export your slideshow from Exhibeo 2, and import it into Xway as a ā€œcomponentā€ (Insert > Component).

Thank you very much for that. I only realised today that Exhibeo 2 could run on 64 bit. Happy days.

Will Xway 1.0 also run under Mac OS 15.01 (Sequoia)?

Hi Wulf,

Xway will run under any version of macOS from Mojave (10.14) onwards, including Sequoia.

Iā€™ve been running the Xway betas successfully on macOS 13.7 ( my computer canā€™t be updated past that). Do I understand that the released version of Xway will only run on macOS 14 and above?

Hi Fred,

Xway 1.0 will run on macOS 10.14 (Mojave), macOS 10.15 (Catalina), macOS 11 (Big Sur), macOS 12 (Monterey), macOS 13 (Ventura), macOS 14 (Sonoma), and macOS 15 (Sequoia).

You should be fine with macOS 13.7.

Thanks.
I keep confusing 10.14 with 14.x.
