Xway 1.0 is here!

We have just released Xway 1.0, the first release version of our next-generation program for visual web design.

You can purchase it from our website.

Price

Xway costs $39 (£29, €35).

If you have a Freeway serial number, you can upgrade for $19 (£14, €17).

If you don’t have a Freeway serial number, you can get a 25% discount by using the following coupon before the end of November:

XWAYRELEASE

To apply this coupon, click on Add discount in the Order summary screen and copy/paste the coupon into the box labelled “Enter your coupon code”.

Trial version

Xway is also available as a 30-day trial version. This can be converted into a full version by clicking on Buy Now in the “Thank you for trying Xway” dialog.

User guide

Xway comes with a detailed reference manual, which you can access by choosing Xway User Guide from Xway’s Help menu. This also includes an appendix with a list of new features and cross-references to documentation in the user guide — this is a good place to start if you’re upgrading from a previous beta version. If you’re new to Xway, a good place to start is the introduction to the user guide, and the introductory tutorial (see below).

Tutorials

A good way to become familiar with Xway is to work through the introductory Xway Tutorial. Choose Xway Resources from the Help menu to go to the Xway Resources section of our website, and click on Tutorials, near the bottom of the page, followed by Download the Xway tutorial on the Tutorials page. This takes you through the steps for creating a simple website.

Xway is designed to create flexible websites that will adapt to any device (phones, tablets, computers). If you previously used Freeway to create websites that don’t adapt in this way, we recommend working through the introductory tutorial, which shows how to create a flexible (inflow layout) website.

The Xway Tutorial is the first in a series of tutorials. The next tutorials in this series are the Xway Menu Tutorial, which introduces navigation menus, and the Xway Flexbox Tutorial, which introduces Flexbox layout. All these tutorials, and the documents they create, are available from our website.

These tutorials have been updated for 1.0. We also plan to make them available in video form.

Templates

Xway 1.0 can create new documents from templates (New from Template).

Xway templates have responsive layouts that automatically adjust to fit any device. They are free for you to use and adapt. All templates are completely customizable. You can change colors, images, layout, fonts, etc.

To download templates, choose Xway Resources from Xway’s Help menu, and click on Templates to go to the Xway templates page on our website, where you can download them. We recommend storing templates in an Xway Templates folder inside your Documents folder.

For more information, and a more complete list, see the New Features appendix at the end of the Xway User Guide. This contains cross-references to documentation.

Ho acquistato Xway e scaricato la cartella dei Templates ma non riesco a vedere nessun template. Cosa sto sbagliando? Grazie mille

I bought Xway and downloaded the Templates folder but I can’t see any templates. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot

Hi Umberto,

  1. The download link should have downloaded a file called “xway_templates.zip”.
  2. If you unzip this, you should have a folder called “Xway Templates” containing templates.
  3. Drag this into your Documents folder. You can rename it (e.g. in Italian) if you like.
  4. Choose New from Template from Xway’s File menu.
  5. Navigate to the templates folder and choose a template.
  6. The first time you do this, Xway will ask you to OK a file dialog that gives it permission to access resources within this folder.

Let me know if any of these steps don’t work for you.

Mi scuso, va tutto bene. Per una qualche ragione si era istallata la versione 0,96 di Xway.
Grazie tante Jeremy

I apologize, everything is fine. For some reason, version 0.96 of Xway was installed.

Thank you very much Jeremy

A post was split to a new topic: Uploading in Xway

Hi Jeremy,

so great you made it - congratulations to the whole team!

I just purchased XWay 1.0 as an upgrade from Freeway 7.1.3. My serial number FP70… was accepted in the upgrade process and I payed EUR 17,- through Paypal. Alas, the serial number was not accepted when I put it into the „Enter license…“ field in XWay. And I haven’t got a new license key so far, I just got the receit from Paddle. So the program is running in Trial Mode right now. What can I do?

Best, Ernst

Hi,

I can’t get to my license because it will not run on the latest MacOS. Are you able to find my serial number?

Hi Ernst,

Xway has its own serial numbers. It won’t accept Freeway serial numbers.

You should also have received an email containing the Xway serial number from Paddle. Can you look in your spam folder?

If you don’t have it, I can arrange for it to be re-sent. If that doesn’t work, I can message you privately.

Hi Paul,

I guess you mean that Freeway won’t run on the latest macOS - but you wouldn’t be able to view your serial number in Freeway anyway (it doesn’t display serial numbers).

The easiest way to find a Freeway serial number is to search through your emails for anything that begins with “FP55” (Freeway Pro 5.5), “FP60” (Freeway Pro 6), “FP70” (Freeway Pro 7), “FE55” (Freeway Express 5.5), or “FE60” (Freeway Express 6). E.g. type “FP55” etc. in the search bar in Apple Mail.

Hi Jeremy,

alright, I found the email with the new serial number in the spam folder.

Thank you so much, I’m looking forward to work with X Way.

Best, Ernst

Hello
In the file menu I don’t see a ‘New from Template’ - just a ‘New’
Must be doing something wrong!!

Hi Noel,

My guess is that you’re using an older version of Xway. What does the About Xway dialog (choose About Xway from the Xway menu) say?

Thank you for your quick response - I thought I was going nuts! I was indeed using a version 9 - not sure how that came about. All sorted now.

Sometimes if you double-click on a document, the Finder launches an older version of an application (if it’s still around).

I think this is more likely to happen if you haven’t run the latest version yet.

Jeremy. Where would I find the Freeway serial number now the software is no longer on my computer?

Hi Jeremy,
wo bekomme ich meinen License Code?

Hi,

I have the same issue as I no longer have the invoice with the Freeway serial number. I tried to use the contact form on your website but apparently my humanity is in question…
